MYSTERY IN PARADISE...WHO IS THE MAUI CYBER BULLY?

Hateful Perp on the loose...Small Community Reeling…Victims Outraged

Maui, Hawaii: A small community in paradise has been rocked by the discovery of a very hurtful citizen amongst them.  Maui...a tropical paradise where all is supposed to be....perfect.  Hardly the type of place one would expect to be the epicenter of one of societies most pervasive problems.  Cyber Harassment.

Someone is trying to wipe out the lives of a number of Hawaii residents via hateful and hurtful, some even career ending defamatory internet posts.  To date, investigators have found at least 28 different rage-filled posts, authored about numerous Hawaii residents, under various anonymous pseudo-names, all laced with slanderous and defamatory claims, vulgar language and profanity. The community is reeling with the discovery, and many believe this is only the tip of the iceberg.

The posts target at least 25 different Maui businesses, residents or visitors.  Some have been victimized multiple times, going back at least 3 years. In the opinion of the investigators, all of the posts are linked via digital forensics, and other digital analysis techniques, to the same author, dubbed by the victims as "The Maui Cyber Bully".

The posts are authored to numerous "consumer complaint” websites designed to assist consumers settle disputes with business and service providers.  The sites, many of which have a "no-removal" policy, operate on the basic premise that the author of the post is being truthful.  All the sites also require the author to agree, before posting, that they will not commit acts of slander, or defame others.  

Cyber criminals, such as the Maui Cyber Bully, love these sites, because they know that whatever they write will be on the internet for the rest of eternity.  Because there is no proof of claims required of the authors, and no requirement to provide the authors real identity, these sites are breeding grounds for hurtful people like the Maui Cyber Bully. Here we have someone who abuses the terms and conditions of these sites, knowing that it would be difficult, if not impossible to be caught.  In essence “psychological snipers” who hide behind the first amendment to commit crimes, and often later hide behind the 5th amendment to avoid prosecution. Unfortunately, the sites know this too. Yet do nothing. Some sites even charge an “arbitration fee” of up to $2000 just to “look into the matter”. Under those circumstances, this behavior becomes a “profit center” for those sites. But how far will they go to protect the authors rights when a crime is committed by the author? We may soon find out.

The Maui Cyber Bully case is very unique.  It involves a lot of victims, all adults…none of whom know each other personally, but all connected by the same rage-filled author.  It's not a "robot" writing these terrible things...it's a human being sitting behind a coimputer and keyboard. Because of the upheaval and damages cause by the Maui Cyber Bully, the victims are intent on defying the odds, catching their perpetrator, and bringing them to justice. This for the sake of their quiet paradise community.

The victims are of varied walks of life, teachers, politicians, authors, artists, attorneys, doctors, musicians, blue collar and public service workers.  A cross-section of America really…none of whom knew each other before fate brought them together, and all with one thing in common...The Maui Cyber Bully..  They have been forever labeled whores, sluts, molesters, satan, and worse. Had their businesses and organization scrutinized and defamed with proof-less allegations of wrong-doing. One victim, an attorney, was compared to Adolph Hitler.  Another disgraceful post, written about a prominent member of the community, has all ready devastated his life and business.

To date, five victims have come together to deal with this situation in support of each other.  The victims, dubbed the “Maui 5-0”, are unified in catching the person that did this to them.  All five have filed police reports with the Maui Police Department and are cooperating fully with an ongoing investigation.  One individual, believed to be connected to many of the posts, has been questioned by the Maui Police, but has refused to answer any questions or cooperate with the investigation, taking advantage of her 5th amendment rights.

A spokesperson for the “Maui 5-0” victims group has issued a statement on behalf of the victims, as follows. "The victims believe the criminal investigation is moving in the correct direction. Regardless of who it is…these victims intend to catch the Maui Cyber Bully and bring him or her to justice.   This is about only one thing...removing from our community, someone who hides behind the privileges afforded by the first amendment, and abuses the basic constitutional rights of others in the process.  Someone who uses, not a gun to end lives, but a keyboard and the internet.  Please help us catch the Maui Cyber Bully and bring them to Justice."

The victims, hell-bent on catching the Maui Cyber Bully, are pleading for help from the community, and anyone else who has some information or evidence to contribute.  If you think you have ever been a victim of the Maui Cyber Bully, please contact the Maui Police Department or your local law enforcement agency.  An IP address directly linked to many of the posts has been captured and tracked to a location in Makawao, Maui Hawaii.  Many of the most slanderous posts have been authored under the pseudo names "Max - Venice Arizona", "Vocal Student - Wailea Hawaii", "Mele888 - Venice Arizona", "MNP - Lahaina Hawaii", "Sam Horn - Venice Callifornia", "Samy Davy", "michaelr", "Brett M.", "Jennifer Lo - Bererly Hills" (SIC), "Alice Ming - Wailea Hawaii", "johnbonjovi", "Alice Malice", "Jennifer Lo - Beverly Hills", "David S.", "Teddy N.", "Jack A. Canfield - Bererly Hills" (SIC), "lillith9", "Jack-Bererly Hills" (SIC), "Mom of two", and others.
